Before you buy
The mid-2008 to 2013 Precedent is the most common golf cart in the US and the one with the most kits built for it. Its molded battery bucket has dividers, a raised centre ridge and a centre hold-down rod — kits either sit on a bracket above the ridge or bolt to that rod. It still has an onboard computer, and the most powerful stock controller of the carts we cover.
Not sure it's this one? Compared with the Club Car Precedent (2004–mid 2008): its factory batteries are four 12V lead-acid batteries (here: six 8V lead-acid batteries in a molded bucket with dividers); 14 kits in our list fit this one but not that one, and 0 the other way round.
Not sure it's this one? Compared with the Club Car Precedent (2014 and newer): charging differs — no OBC — ERIC charging (some 2014 carts still have an OBC) (here: onboard computer (OBC) present — bypass needed for lithium charging); the same kits in our list fit both.
Full-size 48V packs are proven here: Epoch sells its 18.1 × 13.4 × 9.8 in kit with a Precedent bracket, RoyPow sells an 18.1 × 13.1 × 9.7 in pack with Club Car brackets, and a 13.14 × 12.24 × 10.15 in thru-hole pack mounts on the factory centre rod. The ridge in the bucket floor is what decides how a flat pack sits.

Beyond the battery
The parts owners most often forget — and that cause most "my cart won't move" problems.
In our database, kits that fit the Club Car Precedent are listed between $640 and $2,700 on the brands' own sites (checked October 25, 2026). Add a 48V-to-12V converter if the kit doesn't include one, a charge plug for the Round 3-pin Club Car 48V receptacle, and installation if you don't do it yourself.
For the Club Car Precedent, among kits the brand lists for this cart, the Epoch Batteries 48V 105Ah Big Box complete kit has our highest score. The best choice still depends on your budget and terrain — see our three picks above.
On the Club Car Precedent, often only with mounting work: the Precedent bucket has dividers, a raised center ridge and a center hold-down rod, so you need a thru-hole pack, a kit made for your model, or a bracket (and sometimes cutting the ridge). Several Amazon reviewers report packs that did not fit and could not be returned.
Yes. A lithium Club Car Precedent can't use its lead-acid charger, which has the wrong charging profile: you need a 58.4V lithium charger, which most kits include (check the card). This cart: onboard computer (OBC) present — bypass needed for lithium charging.
