How we size the battery
We use the same assumptions as our range calculator: about 95 watt-hours per mile for a two-seat cart on flat ground, more for bigger carts, passengers, hills and big tires. We then add a 20% margin and assume 90% of a lithium pack is usable, so you don't finish your longest trip on an empty battery.
Pick your cart and the list only shows kits that fit its battery bay (confirmed by the brand or by size). Without a cart, it shows every kit with the right voltage. We flag — rather than hide — packs whose continuous current is less than half of what your controller can draw: they work, but may cut out on steep hills. Kits sold only on Amazon show no price here — Amazon doesn't allow us to display it.
What we check for you
- Fit. Every kit is checked against your cart's battery bay — confirmed by the brand or by size — with the source.
- Power. We flag packs that may cut out on hills with your cart's controller.
- What's in the box. Charger, 12V converter and charge meter are listed on every kit, so nothing is missing on install day.
- Warranty. The exact length and conditions from the brand, on every kit page.
Before you order: check the seller's return policy, and favor a brand you can reach by phone.
Questions people ask
What size lithium battery do I need for my golf cart?
Match the voltage of your cart (36V or 48V), then size the amp-hours to your longest trip. A 48V 100–105Ah pack covers most two- and four-seat carts used for golf or around the neighborhood. Six-seat carts, lifted carts, hills or long daily trips usually need 150Ah or more.
How many lithium batteries does it take to run a golf cart?
Usually one. A single 48V lithium pack replaces the set of six 8V or four 12V lead-acid batteries in a 48V cart. Some owners use two packs in parallel for more range — only do this with packs the brand allows to be paralleled.
What does the controller amp rating have to do with the battery?
Your speed controller can pull a certain number of amps. If the battery's continuous rating is lower, its safety system can shut it off on hills or with a heavy load — one of the most common complaints on golf cart forums. Check the label on your controller and pick a pack rated at least that high, or close to it with a high short-term peak.
What are the downsides of a lithium battery in a golf cart?
The upfront cost, the need for a lithium charger and usually a 48V-to-12V converter, no charging below freezing on most packs, and fit problems with "universal" packs. In low-star reviews, the biggest regret is buying from a seller with no real after-sale support.
