Converting the E-Z-GO RXV (2008+ · six 8V batteries (metal tray)): what's different

This is the RXV with six 8-volt batteries in a metal tray. The cart, controller and charging are the same as the four-12V RXV; the tray and therefore the bracket are not — which is why the two get separate pages.

Not sure it's this one? Compared with the E-Z-GO RXV (2008+ · four 12V batteries (plastic tray)): its factory batteries are four 12V lead-acid batteries in a plastic tray (here: six 8V lead-acid batteries in a metal tray); the same kits in our list fit both.

How to tell it's this one

  • Six 8-volt batteries in a metal tray.
  • 2008 and newer (the year doesn't tell you which tray).
  • E-Z-GO 48V triangle receptacle with charge inhibit.

The battery bay

Fleet Lithium sells its 22 × 12 × 10.6 in pack for this tray with the BR4402-R8 bracket; another maker's RXV install guide places the pack between the tray's side ridges and main centre ridge. E-Z-GO publishes no tray dimensions.

Controller and charging

  • Curtis AC controller listed at 235A; a 350A upgrade controller exists for 2012+ carts with six 8V batteries.
  • Overcurrent can lock the electromagnetic brake — size the BMS for the controller.
  • Keep the charge-inhibit circuit working.

What owners get wrong

  • Order the 6×8V (metal tray) bracket.
  • If you plan the 350A controller upgrade, buy a pack with 250A+ continuous now.
  • Clean rust off the metal tray before installing the new bracket.
