Converting the Yamaha G19 / G22 (1996–2007 (48V)): what's different

The G19 and G22 hold six 8-volt batteries in a single row across the cart, so the bay is long but shallow front-to-back. That is why makers use narrow "skinny" packs for these carts, and why packs over about 10 inches deep are a gamble. The G19 also has regenerative braking, which the pack's BMS must accept.

How to tell it's this one

  • Six 8-volt batteries in one row (G19 1996–2002, G22 2003–2007).
  • Steel tray, J-hook hold-down rods.
  • Yamaha 2-pin charge receptacle.

The battery bay

One maker's G19/G22 105Ah kit uses a skinny pack, 22 × 9.75 × 10.43 in, and its 60Ah kit a 13.37 × 10.18 in pack. No tray measurement is published; depth front-to-back is the binding number. Epoch offers no G19/G22 bracket.

Controller and charging

  • Regenerative braking on the G19: pick a BMS that accepts charge current while driving.
  • The stock controller is below 300A (a 300A replacement is "a little bigger than the stock one").
  • No OBC documented.

What owners get wrong

  • Measure the tray depth front-to-back before buying any pack deeper than 10 in.
  • Replace rusted J-hook rods; don't trust 20-year-old hardware to hold a 100-lb pack.
