Converting the E-Z-GO TXT / Freedom TXT (2010 and newer (48V)): what's different

The 48-volt TXT shares the 21 × 23.5 in tray of the 36V cart, which makes it the easiest cart to fit: even the biggest packs we list are sold for it. The detail that catches owners out is electrical — a magnet in the charge plug disables driving, and that interlock has to keep working after the swap.

How to tell it's this one

  • Six 8-volt batteries.
  • 2010 and newer (lead-acid; ELiTE carts have a factory lithium pack).
  • E-Z-GO 48V 3-pin triangle receptacle.

The battery bay

The tray floor is 21 × 23.5 in. Epoch sells TXT configurations of its 18.1 × 13.4 in, 19.8 × 15.4 in (150Ah) and 23.5 × 14.4 in (230Ah) kits, and Fleet Lithium a 22 × 12 × 10.6 in pack — the largest footprints of any cart we cover.

Controller and charging

  • The stock Curtis 1206 controller is listed at 250A.
  • Charge interlock: the receptacle's magnet/reed switch must still stop the cart while plugged in.
  • No OBC.

What owners get wrong

  • Ask for the TXT charge plug or adapter — the triangle receptacle is specific to E-Z-GO.
  • Big trays invite big packs: a 150Ah+ pack only pays off if you drive long distances.
  • Keep the tray clean and dry; old acid residue corrodes new brackets.
