Highest score for the money among kits that fit.

The highest score among kits the brand lists for this cart.

Most continuous current and energy — for hills, lifts and heavy loads.
Before you buy
The 48-volt DS has the tightest battery bay of the common Club Cars. Packs sized for a Precedent are too long to drop between its frame beams, so brands sell compact "Mini" packs or DS-specific brackets for it. Most DS carts also have an onboard computer (OBC) that must be bypassed for a lithium charger.
Not sure it's this one? Compared with the Club Car DS (1982–1995 (36V)): it runs at 36V instead of 48V, so it takes different kits; its factory batteries are six 6V lead-acid batteries (not confirmed by a Club Car document) (here: six 8V lead-acid batteries (a four-12V layout was offered from 2007)); charging differs — no onboard computer (here: onboard computer (OBC) present — it can block a lithium charger; plan a bypass); the charge receptacle is a 2-prong "crowfoot" 36V receptacle (here: Round 3-pin Club Car 48V receptacle); 3 kits in our list fit this one but not that one, and 6 the other way round.
An owner of a 2004 DS reports that a 20 × 10.5 × 9 in pack would not mount between the two aluminium beams or on top of them; a 20.5 × 10.6 in pack sat across the top of the beams only "barely". Packs around 12 × 12 in go between the beams. Brands sell 15.8 × 11.1 × 10.9 in (Epoch MINI) and 13.14 × 12.24 × 10.15 in (a thru-hole pack, with a plate bolted to the frame) for the DS.

Beyond the battery
The parts owners most often forget — and that cause most "my cart won't move" problems.
In our database, kits that fit the Club Car DS are listed between $1,580 and $2,700 on the brands' own sites (checked October 25, 2026). Add a 48V-to-12V converter if the kit doesn't include one, a charge plug for the Round 3-pin Club Car 48V receptacle, and installation if you don't do it yourself.
For the Club Car DS, among kits the brand lists for this cart, the Epoch Batteries 48V 105Ah MINI kit (Club Car DS) has our highest score. The best choice still depends on your budget and terrain — see our three picks above.
On the Club Car DS, only if it is small enough: the DS bay is smaller than the Precedent's, which is why brands sell compact "Mini" packs for it. Compare the kit size on each card with your tray.
Yes. A lithium Club Car DS can't use its lead-acid charger, which has the wrong charging profile: you need a 58.4V lithium charger, which most kits include (check the card). This cart: onboard computer (OBC) present — it can block a lithium charger; plan a bypass.
