Converting the Club Car Tempo / Onward factory lithium (2019 and newer): what's different
Tempo and Onward carts sold with a factory lithium battery are not conversion candidates: the battery and the controller talk to each other over a data link (CAN). Bolting in a generic lithium pack leaves the cart unable to drive or charge.

- Sold from 2019 on Tempo and Onward.

The battery bay
The factory pack sits in a tray designed for it. Replacements are model-specific packs that speak the cart's CAN protocol — sold by a few brands as "factory lithium replacement" kits, not as conversion kits.
Controller and charging
- CAN communication between battery and controller is required.
- The factory charger is matched to the factory pack.
What owners get wrong
- If the factory pack is under warranty, contact a Club Car dealer first.
- For an out-of-warranty pack, look for "Club Car factory lithium replacement" kits that state CAN compatibility.
